Dr. Hieu Pham invited to serve as Area Chair for MICCAI 2026
The Computer Vision and Medical AI Lab proudly congratulates Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, Principal Investigator at the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC) and the Computer Vision and Medical AI Lab, on being invited to serve as an Area Chair for MICCAI 2026 — one of the world’s most prestigious conferences in medical image computing and computer-assisted intervention.
MICCAI is a leading international forum for advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning in healthcare, biomedical image and data analysis, and computer-assisted diagnosis, clinical decision-making, and medical intervention. The conference brings together top scientists, clinicians, computer scientists, and AI experts from leading universities, research institutes, and global technology corporations, with a highly competitive acceptance rate that reflects the highest academic standards in the field.
As an Area Chair at MICCAI 2026, Dr. Hieu will be responsible for overseeing the in-depth scientific evaluation of submissions within key thematic areas, coordinating and supervising the international peer-review process, and working with the Program Committee to formulate important academic recommendations. This role is entrusted only to researchers with deep expertise, strong academic reputation, sustained international contributions, and the capacity to shape research quality and emerging directions in the field.
In addition, Dr. Hieu will join the Advisory Board of the MICCAI Open Data Special Interest Group (SIG), where he will provide strategic guidance on the direction of open data initiatives and contribute to strengthening collaboration within and beyond the MICCAI community.
This appointment highlights Dr. Hieu’s active engagement and growing influence within the MICCAI and global medical imaging research community. In 2025, he organized a MICCAI-focused training program in Hanoi for 50 students in medical imaging and delivered invited talks in Korea, fostering international academic exchange.
Being named an Area Chair at a leading global scientific conference is a significant milestone, recognizing his academic excellence and research leadership. Through this role, he contributes to strengthening VinUniversity’s global research profile while advancing the representation of Vietnamese scholars in key decision-making positions at leading scientific forums.
